Model Atoms

Aim:
 To make a model atom using classroom resources.

Equipment:
Paper
Tape
Plastic Beads
Blue Tac
String

Method-
-Choose any element  from 1-7 on the periodic table
- Get the right amount of beads with a different colour. They represented the Neutrons & Protons
- Attach the neutrons and proton beads to the blue tac (the right amount for what element you have chosen)
- Attach that to the string, MAKE SURE IT STAYS ON
- Get your piece of paper, cut the need doughnut-shaped (KNOWN AS THE OUTER SHELL) pieces out, if there is two cut one big and one small enough to fit inside the big one.
- Draw how many electrons you need to in each circle for example, in the small circle of-Beryllium would need 2 and 2 in the bigger one.
- Tape your string that is attached to your beads, to the outer shells at the right height so your beads hang in the middle of the smallest shell.

Discussion
I do not have a pic to show you, but I created the hydrogen atom. 
I think I was successful.

Child Labour

Companies like Nestle, Hershey’s and Microsoft and Apple are still buying the resource they need from places that use child labour, child labour is the employment of children in an industry of business. Coco is needed to make chocolate and rare minerals that are used in smart-phones batteries. A lot of these young kids want an education and want to take part in a daily task that school provides. Many of these kids are usually small and can reach dangerous parts of the mines. There are an estimated around 132 million children under 15 years of age working around the world. Most child workers can be found in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Latin America. But child labour today is not restricted to developing countries. A lot of developing countries think that child labour is needed to be successful.




What is child labour?
the use of children in industry or business, especially when illegal or considered inhumane.

Why is child labour used
A lot of developing countries think that child labour is needed to be successful.

Thinking about cloning

   1. Cloning endangered/extinct animals?

I neither agree or disagree with cloning endangered/extinct animal. If the animal in endangered than cloning is all right but only if it is human caused.  If they are extinct than there are no others of there species to teach them how to act and find food.

  2. Cloning highly productive plants and animals

I agree with this because if we have apple trees that grow more apples than others apple trees would clone that apple tree to save room on more.

  3.  Cloning should be used to replicate a child that is dying.

I Disagree with this because cloning another child would not save his or her life. You are only creating another person that looks like the dying person.

DNA Extraction

Aim
To extraction  DNA from the kiwi fruit

Method
- Using a spatula, scoop 1/2 kiwifruit into the bag. Add 25ml water plus a pinch of salt
- Mush until a thick soup.
- Pour over cloth into a funnel into beaker
- Pour liquid into a test tube. Add dishwashing liquid and swirl. Allow sitting for 5 mins
- Tilt test tube on a 45-degree angle and slowly pour 10ml of ethanol down the side
- Allow sitting

Results- When we add the ethanol it started to separate it.

Decision-
Water helped break kiwifruit apart.
Salt help climb the DNA
Ethanol helped to see it as it sits on top

Conclusion-

Child Slavery Paragraph

We don't need slaves in our world but people benefit from them. Children have lost their education, they have lost their rights and they have lost their freedom. Children are most liked by masters because they cost less and give less resistance. 
Most families with people that are involved with forced labour are poor and live in poverty.  Example of the countries that live like this are Somalia, Sudan, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Most children are bought by owners of Mines, carpet factories and brick kilns. As previously stated they don't get paid very much if at all. Why did people decide that slavery was a good idea when it has to lead to so many issues now.
